Police responded to the building at 2422 Queen St. E. for a fatal stabbing around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Police identified the victim as 48 year-old Robert Joseph Walker, a resident of the building. Police are searching for multiple suspects, but have not yet been able to provide descriptions. The weapon has not been recovered, although the police conducted a search of the area.

The homicide unit is now leading the investigation, and asks anyone with information to contact police or Toronto Crime Stoppers. The man's death is Toronto's 28th homicide of the year, and the first in the Beaches area since a fatal 2014 shooting at Kingston Road and Main Street. While the building is technically in Scarborough, it is directly across the street from the RC Harris Filtration Plant, and is considered by some residents to be part of the Beach.
